This weekend through February, Reggie's work will be on display in the One from Wisconsin at the Museum of Wisconsin Art www.wisconsinart.org This isn't the typical installation of Reginald Baylor. Much different, all new media.
Reggie spent quite a bit of time writing a synopsis, in his own words, about his work that is on display. In order for his written words to get as many opportunities to be read as possible....
The intent of this exhibition is to showcase Milwaukee artist Reginald Baylor’s artwork using no acrylic on canvas paintings – his usual medium of choice. This mixed media exhibition will explore many different media that remind him of his Midwest blue collar, manufacturing upbringing. The use of fabrics, leather, wood and metal and their characteristics will be translated into Reginald's primary focus of using line, shape and color. These new compositions are the result of Reginald having his linear content digitally extracted from previous acrylic works on canvas into file formats that read like the blueprints of an Architect. This process, like in typical American manufacturing methodology, Reginald is able to manipulate with finite detail, those lines, shapes and colors through the use of a machines. Reginald is in the infant stages of incorporating these new methods as he uses accessible machines to manipulate whatever resources he finds necessary to fulfill his vision of always expanding his artistic expressions, while retaining his signature aesthetics.
